Skyblivion mod release isn't threatened by Oblivion Remastered

A group of fans have been working hard on a rather crazy project since 2012. The aim here is to recreate Oblivion using the tools and engine of Skyrim. This is called Skyblivion and is due for release on PC this yer.

For its part, Bethesda Softworks has also decided to bring back the fourth entry in the franchise with a remaster developed by Virtuos that's due for release next week. Skyblivion's future seemed uncertain in the face of this more official competition.

In an interview with the VG247 website, Kyle 'Rebelzize' Rebel, the project manager, affirmed that the mod will indeed see the light of day.

"Fortunately, from the start it was all about passion, and it still is. I got more out of it than I ever imagined, friends, experience, and it made me realize that I wanted to work in the video game industry, which is what I ended up doing. At the end of the day, this game only exists because Bethesda allowed it to, so I guess if the official remake is real, it's a good thing we were allowed to exist."

So, unless Bethesda changes its mind at the last minute, Skyblivion will be able to co-exist alongside The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered.
