With Days Gone Remastered, Bend Studio promises that gamers will see the difference

Sony is regularly criticized or even mocked on social networks when it announces remasterings of relatively recent games. This was the case with Horizon Zero Dawn last year, and now it's Days Gone in 2025.
In an article published on the PlayStation Blog, Kevin McAllister, the creative and product manager on Days Gone Remastered, went back over the contributions of this new version.
"Days Gone is a special game for us. It’s a special game to our players, too. We got the opportunity to remaster a game that we released originally on the PS4 in 2019 and ported to the PC in 2021. Six years after the original, technology has improved–we have the power of the PS5 now. There was a lot more we could do to showcase the game’s potential."
"The graphical improvements we’ve made–you’ll see the difference. There’s increased lighting, increased shadow quality ,increased fog depth. For example, night time is now darker; the moon is more natural-looking. The blue sky is more natural, too–Days Gone is a very realistic-looking game. And we’ve taken that to a new level with the PS5."
In addition to the reworked graphics, McAllister mentioned other changes, such as the size of the hordes, which are even bigger now in the Horde mode. In story mode, the largest horde contains around 500 mutants. In the new mode, hordes can reach up to 800.
Both a Speedrun and Permanentdeath modes will also be available in Days Gone Remastered, due for release on April 25. Owners of the game on PS4 will be offered an upgrade for €10.
