The Switch 2 units made in China could be affected by the new 145% tariffs
, by Thibaut
Things seem to change every day. At the time of writing, President Donald Trump has imposed tariffs of up to 145% on products from China.
So, according to several reports, consoles made in Chinese factories will be heavily impacted by these new tariffs. We're talking here about a possible price increase of several hundred dollars. And since the Switch 2 is partly designed in China, units from the country could be sold at an exorbitant price.
Analyst Daniel Ahmad has indicated that this possibility is real, but that Nintendo may have planned ahead by allocating all Switch 2 production to Vietnam. The latter is currently affected by tariffs of just 10% for at least 90 days.
Donald Trump has also pointed out that some products will be exempt from this new tax, including smartphones, computers and other devices. Unfortunately, game consoles are not on this list.
