MSI is said to be working on a Claw console with an AMD Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme APU

MSI could be saying goodbye to Intel in favor of AMD for iuts next Claw portable console. According to an insider, the brand plans to feature a Ryzen Z2 AI Extreme APU, thus ending its exclusivity with Intel processors.
This change of strategy had already been hinted at on the sidelines of CES 2025, where another insider reported that MSI was working on a device based on the Ryzen Z2 range. The model in question would feature 8 cores, 16 threads, a 5.0 GHz boost, and a 16-core RDNA 3.5 iGPU, as well as a dedicated NPU too.
This choice could be explained by the expected performance of this chip against Intel's Core Ultra 7 258V. It remains to be seen whether MSI will switch completely to AMD or offer a mixed range, although the latter seems unlikely given the exclusive agreements often established with CPU manufacturers.
