The price of the Switch 2 won't go up any time soon in the USA
, by Thibaut
No one knows where Donald Trump stands any more! While stock markets around the world collapsed following the announcement of new tariffs to be applied by the USA, the American president has finally gone back on his word.
With the exception of China, where tariffs can reach 125%, all other countries are now capped at 10% for at least 90 days. Vietnam, the country in which the Switch 2 is manufactured, won't have to face an immediate tariff of 46% on its imports, as originally planned.
According to a Bloomberg report, Nintendo won't be raising the price of the Switch 2 in the United States as long as customs duties are maintained at 10%. The console will still be sold at $450. Analysts were predicting an increase of between $50 and $100 with tariffs at 46%.
At first, Nintendo will be able to absorb a drop in margin. In addition, the Japanese company has already stocked several million Switch 2s on American ground to meet demand and avoid the costly imports from Vietnam.
