ASUS has listed a new ROG STRIX laptop featuring the AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor, a refreshed version of the Dragon Range. This model features 16 Zen 4 cores and can reach a frequency of 5.3 GHz, 100 MHz higher than the 7940HX.
Although AMD has yet to announce this Dragon Range Refresh series, several brands, including MSI, have already hinted at these chips. Three months after CES 2025, AMD has still not confirmed the specifications. HX processors are derived from desktop models adapted to the notebook format. They focus on CPU power and are designed for machines with a dedicated GPU, in this case an RTX 5070 Ti.
