Nintendo explains why the framerate of the Switch 2 GameChat videos is so low

By pressing the C button on the Switch 2, players will launch the GameChat function, which allows up to 12 people to chat and play together. When it was first introduced, the software stood out for its unconvincing framerate.
During an interview with GameSpot, Takuhiro Dohta, Switch 2's hardware director, explained why screen-sharing benefits from low resolution and a lack of fluidity. Dohta admits that this choice was made to avoid burdening the console's resources.
"Obviously, chat is supposed to run simultaneously and coincide with the game you're playing. But we also think it's essential not to interfere with the smooth running of the game you're playing. That's why we wanted to make sure that using chat at the same time as the game doesn't reduce the experience or quality of the game in any way."
Technical Director Tetsuya Sasaki added that the reduced framerate will enable users to have the same experience, and games to run without the slightest difficulty while being shared.
