Nintendo will price Switch 2 games on a case-by-case basis

The announcement of the pricing for Switch 2 games caused quite a stir. Mario Kart World will indeed retail at €89.99 in physical form, which seems to set a new pricing standard for AAA titles.
Doug Bowser, CEO of Nintendo of America, clearly explained this strategy in an interview with the Washington Post. The price of games published by the Japanese company will be decided according to several criteria.
"What you're seeing here is variable pricing. We’ll look at each game, really look at the development that’s gone into the game, the breadth and depth of the gameplay, if you will, the durability over time and the repeatability of gameplay experiences."
"Those are all factors, and there’s many more that go into consideration of what is the right price point for the game. So I think you can anticipate that there will be variable pricing, and we haven’t set a benchmark."
