Third-party developers seem very pleased with Switch 2 performance

Many third-party games will be released during the Switch 2 launch window. While Nintendo has brought more power to its new machine, there's some uncertainty as to actual performance on the most demanding titles.

In an article published by Game File, several studios praised the console's capabilities. This is particularly true of Avalanche Software, which will bring Hogwarts Legacy to Switch 2 on June 5.

"We started everything with the Switch version. We got very good results very quickly, but we felt that we could make a better product. To do this, we'll be integrating a large number of high-definition resources [and] increasing the resolution, textures, lighting and display of the world."

The same is true of 2K with Dennis Shirk, executive producer of the Civilization saga. The seventh game will also arrive on Switch 2 at the machine's launch.

"Their development kit is excellent, as is customer support, developer support and developer relations. They knew they wanted Civ VII on this platform, as it's a great ambassador for mouse mode. And it pairs very well with our existing PC audience, because we have crossplay."

The performance of Civilization VII in portable mode on Switch 2 is equivalent to that of "a mid-tier PC", according to Shirk. In any case, he says he's "extremely happy" with the console's power.
