An internal Ubisoft memo gives details on how the new subsidary will operate

This past March 27, Ubisoft officially announced the creation of a brand new subsidiary that will bring together the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Rainbow Six licenses. However, we still don't know exactly how this entity will operate.

Fortunately, Insider Gaming has obtained an internal memo from Christophe Derennes, Ubisoft's General Manager for North America. The memo attempts to answer the many questions raised by employees who anonymously claim to be in a state of near-total limbo.

First of all, Derennes stated that the new subsidiary "will remain within the Ubisoft family" since Tencent will only be a minority shareholder (with a 25% stake). It is also stated that "major changes" will take place in terms of structure and organization.

The Quebec City, Saguenay and Sherbrooke studios will be transferred in their entirety to the new entity. The Montreal teams, meanwhile, will be split between the current organization and the newly announced structure. Finally, the Toronto, Winnipeg, Red Storm and Blue Mammoth studios will remain unchanged.

This summer, Ubisoft intends to reflect on the development of a new model to allow the two organizations to coexist in a sustainable way. A longer transition period is also planned for the implementation of this model. The impact on the studios will then be measured, with possible redundancies to follow.

Finally, Christophe Derennes pointed out that Ubisoft's general managers have no further information at present. The announcement was probably made somewhat hastily, and many points remain to be clarified.
