Shuhei Yoshida explains that Japan Studio closed down because PlayStation no longer wanted AA games

In an interview with AV Watch, Shuhei Yoshida talked about the closure of Japan Studio in 2021. According to him, PlayStation management no longer wished to invest in AA games, preferring to concentrate on titles capable of selling hardware, such as God of War, Spider-Man or The Last of Us.

Yoshida explains that even if certain ideas deemed creative were proposed, they were classified as AA and therefore not given priority. He explains that Japan Studio was no longer in line with the company's new strategy.
