A YouTuber has tested a modified RTX 4090 with 48 GB

YouTuber MKA has tested a modified version of the RTX 4090 equipped with 48 GB of memory. This card has never been officially marketed by NVIDIA. After all, it's a special model, the origin of which remains uncertain. Some units are said to come from stripped RTX 4090 cards, resold without GPUs, then reassembled with custom PCBs capable of supporting more memory.
These cards are sometimes derived from older RTX Ada models. The model tested by MKA reaches 2.7 GHz boost frequency, consumes 425 W and climbs to 70.7°C (86°C at the hot spot). Measured noise reached 65 dB during testing.
In addition to gaming performance, MKA also carried out AI benchmarks. For the time being, these cards are limited to the Chinese market, and seem mainly intended to circumvent US export restrictions. Their use remains controversial, and NVIDIA could theoretically block this type of modification via more advanced software protections.
