Ken Kutaragi shows his really well-preserved copy of the Nintendo PlayStation prototype

Ken Kutaragi, co-creator of the PlayStation, still owns a prototype of the Nintendo PlayStation. This rare model, the result of the cancelled partnership between Sony and Nintendo in the 1990s, was spotted in a series of photos published by photographer Julian Domanski.

This prototype features a blue PlayStation logo and lettering directly printed on the Eject and Reset buttons, unlike the one sold at auction in 2020 for $360,000. It also appears better preserved, with less yellowing.

Around 200 units of the Nintendo PlayStation would have been produced before Sony developed the PlayStation as an independent console after the agreement with Nintendo came crashing down.
