Hasbro takes its time with Baldur's Gate 4
, by Thibaut
The success of Baldur's Gate 3 has been absolutely breathtaking since its launch in August 2023. The game received numerous awards and sold extremely well.
In an interview with IGN, Dan Ayoub, Hasbro's Senior Vice President of Digital Games, spoke about a fourth entry. The company is obviously keen to relaunch the franchise, but also wants to take its time and get it right.
"We're kind of working out our plans for the future and what we're going to be doing with that. And actually, in pretty short order, we're going to have some stuff to talk about around that."
"That's the thing, we're going to take a very measured approach... We've got a lot of plans, a lot of different ways to go about it. We're starting to think about, okay, yeah, we're ready to start dipping toes a little bit and talking about a few things."
Hasbro is clearly in no hurry, and will need to find the right partner to develop Baldur's Gate 4. After all, Larian Studios doesn't want to do a sequel. The company is currently working on two new projects, including a brand-new IP.
