A Splinter Cell battle royale game was reportedly canceled by Ubisoft
, by Thibaut
No, agent Sam Fisher is not dead! In December 2021, Ubisoft announced a Splinter Cell remake. We have almost no concrete information about it, and the project hasn't been mentioned by the publisher for over a year. Today, a playtester has revealed that a second game was in development before being cancelled altogether.
According to the information available to us, it was a battle royale game called Splinter Cell: Hunters. The last internal test took place in June 2022, and the official announcement was even about to be made. Unfortunately, Ubisoft ultimately decided to permanently bury this episode.
In Splinter Cell: Hunters, several operators with customizable classes and a map plunged into darkness would have been accessible. The game opted for a third-person perspective and required players to take down specific targets scattered throughout the map while facing off against AI-controlled enemies or other players during the mission.
