AMD is rumored to be working on the "Aerith Plus" SoC for the Steaam Deck 2

A new AMD SoC, named “Aerith Plus”, has reportedly been spotted in shipping documents and could be destined for the Steam Deck 2.

The Aerith Plus is said to feature a boost frequency of up to 3.8 GHz, 300 MHz more than the current Steam Deck model. Its maximum TDP would be 20W, compared with 15W for the Aerith. On the graphics side, the iGPU frequency would increase from 1.6 GHz to 1.8 GHz.

Another evolution would concern memory: the Aerith Plus would be accompanied by LPDDR5X at 8533 MT/s, versus LPDDR5 at 6400 MT/s on the current Steam Deck. This choice could indicate a transition to a Zen 5 architecture with an RDNA 3.5 GPU, as opposed to the current Zen 2 and RDNA 2-based architecture.

The APU could be a customized version of “Krackan Point”, with a configuration of up to 8 cores/16 threads and 12 compute units for the GPU. No official confirmation of the Steam Deck 2 release has been given by Valve, so this information should be treated with caution.
