A customizable difficulty system is coming to Valheim
, by Thibaut
In a future patch, Valheim will offer several difficulty options. Players will be able to choose from various world modifiers to make their experience easier or more challenging.
In a tweet, game director Jonathan Smars presented the modes in question. These include "easy," "hard," and "hardcore" difficulties. The choice will influence the toughness of enemies and the frequency of raids on the player's base.
There are also other options, such as an "immersive" mode that removes the map used for navigation and the use of portals. On the other hand, "hammer mode" allows players to build any structure for free. Raids will be disabled, and enemies will only attack if provoked by the player. The "casual" mode will also be more resource-rich and will not penalize the player's death.
Finally, note that all these parameters (combat difficulty, portal activation, resource rates, etc.) can be manually customized. In short, Valheim will adapt to our desires.
