Valve is rumored to be working on a $1200 standalone VR headset for late 2025

According to a rumor by Gabefollower, a generally reliable source, Valve is planning to launch a new virtual reality headset by the end of 2025. This stand-alone, wireless model, codenamed Deckard, would run an adapted version of SteamOS, similar to the Steam Deck.

The headset would be priced at $1,200 in a bundle including games developed in-house. Despite this price, Valve could sell the device at a loss in order to offer a better experience. One of the features highlighted would be the ability to play Steam Deck-compatible games in VR, on a large screen, without the need for a PC.

It remains to be seen whether this will find its audience, given that the price is aimed more at VR enthusiasts.
