NVIDIA acknowledges that some RTX 5090 and RTX 5070 Ti were delivered with less ROP

NVIDIA confirms that a production anomaly has resulted in some RTX 5090, RTX 5090D and RTX 5070 Ti graphics cards being shipped with fewer ROPs (Raster Operation Pipeline) than the official specifications.

According to NVIDIA, this anomaly affects around 0.5% of GPUs shipped. The average loss of graphics performance due to this problem is estimated at 4%. However, the company points out that AI and computing tasks are not affected.

This problem was initially revealed by TechPowerUP, which had noticed a discrepancy in the announced specifications. Following this report, NVIDIA officially acknowledged the existence of the defect. The manufacturer now recommends that affected consumers contact their reseller partners directly to have their graphics card replaced.
