NVIDIA is finally looking into the RTX 30/40/50 black screen problems
, by Quentin
NVIDIA is investigating black screen problems affecting its RTX 30, 40 and 50 series graphics cards. Many users have been reporting this problem since the release of drivers dedicated to the RTX 50 series. Although similar in appearance, the actual causes may vary considerably between each case.
On the official NVIDIA forums, these complaints are growing by the minute, often advising RTX 30 and 40 series users to avoid installing the latest drivers. However, this solution is out of the question for those with an RTX 50, since they have no previous drivers at their disposal.
Some temporary solutions proposed by users include adjustments to clock frequencies, voltages or screen refresh rates. Reports also indicate that setting PCIe parameters on motherboards to version 4.0 could solve the problem in some cases. NVIDIA has not said whether a software or BIOS update will be required to resolve the issue definitively. The company is currently pursuing its investigations, but the exact cause and nature of the corrective measures to be taken remain unknown for the time being.
