Liquid Swords, a NetEase-funded studio, has shed some staff

Last October, Liquid Swords showed some images of its first AAA open-world game. Alas, the harsh reality of the market quickly caught up with the company founded by Christofer Sundberg, who previously had set up Avalanche Studios (Just Cause).

The NetEase-funded Swedish company has laid off part of its staff. The Chinese giant's funds were clearly not enough. In its press release, the studio points to "present challenges of the video game industry" and states that these changes are intended ’to ensure the studio's long-term sustainability".

The aforementioned project is still in development. It is presented as "a single-player action RPG with a raw vision of the open-world detective genre".
