AMD prepares an aggressive pricing policy for the Radeon RX 9000
, by Quentin
AMD may be pricing its Radeon RX 9000 in order to compete directly with NVIDIA, even if it means impacting its own mid-range GPU sales in the process. According to IT Home, the company has already halted production of the RX 7800 XT in January, even if it had originally planned to do so during the third quarter of 2025.
The RX 9070 and 9070 XT, expected in March, should go for between $500 and $600, putting it close to the RX 7800 XT. AMD is thus targeting NVIDIA's RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti, with a price/performance that could be quite attractive to those with interest in that range.
The RDNA 4 architecture on which these models are based should also give some Ray Tracing improvements. This strategy would strengthen AMD's presence in the mid-range GPU market, a segment where NVIDIA remains king.
