Sony has begun taking down shovelware from the PlayStation Store

Sadly, this is something quite widespread in online stores. Some studios have no qualms about releasing blatant copies of succesful games, with only some minor changes, bordering on plagiarism.

Shovelware is proliferating all over the place, especially on the PlayStation Store. This has prompted media outlets such as IGN to conduct a survey to assess the extent of this, and here are the results.

In fact, Sony has discreetly withdrawn several games of this type from its platform. This applies, for example, to RandomSpin Games productios, which used to post several "new releases" per month. Other studios such as Breakthrough Gaming and Zakym have also seen their titles gone from the Sony store.

For the moment, we don't know whether this is the result of a new policy on the part of the Japanese company, or whether IGN's investigation has prompted the brand to take the initiative.
