NVIDIA is investigating several issues with the RTX 50s
, by Quentin
NVIDIA has confirmed that it is aware of reported problems with RTX 50 graphics cards, including some black screens affecting the RTX 5080 and RTX 5090. Some users are even reporting crashes resulting in their graphics card not being detected after a reboot, while others are experiencing temporary interruptions.
These incidents occur in a variety of situations, from resolution changes to multi-screen configurations. Some believe that the problem could be linked to PCIe 5.0 or to drivers, in particular version 572.16, which would also affect RTX 40s. For now, it is suggested you reinstall all your drivers via Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) or switching PCIe to Gen 4.
PC Gamer has got a statement from NVIDIA confirming that the company is investigating these reports. Meanwhile, Manli has reported that it has received a faulty RTX 5090D card for analysis, while Colorful assumes a link with the use of unofficial drivers.
NVIDIA is expected to publish further information shortly. In the meantime, those affected are working out some solutions without even official confirmation on the origin of the problem.
