Nintendo says it will take account people's expectations when pricing the Switch 2
, by Thibaut
The launch price of the Switch 2 remains a mystery for the moment. Some believe that the console will not be sold for less than €399, which would be higher than the first Switch back in 2017 at €329.99.
During Nintendo's quarterly results presentation, the brand's president, Shuntaro Furukawa, was asked about the prices that will be applied for the console. Naturally, Furukawa remained evasive, pointing out that various factors will have to be taken into account.
Starting with Japan's high inflation and exchange rates, which have changed considerably over the past eight years and would suggest that Nintendo will be forced to revise its prices upwards. However, the Japanese company's CEO wants to keep in mind Nintendo's customers, who are used to a certain price range.
Furukawa says he wants to take into consideration "the affordability our customers expect from Nintendo products". Once again, a rather vague statement that gives little indication of how much the Switch 2 will cost.
