Actor and filmmaker Simu Liu to direct an adaptation of Sleeping Dogs

Here's what you might call strange timing. In early January, producer Neal Moritz confirmed that, after all this time, the Sleeping Dogs film had been cancelled. Today, we've learned that the project may still have one last chance to rise from the ashes.

Canadian actor and filmmaker Simu Liu, known for his roles in Shang-Chi, Barbie and Jackpot, has spoken on his desire to direct the GTA-like adaptation.

"Working with the rights holders to bring Sleeping Dogs to the big screen!"

There's no guarantee that he'll succeed, but it seems there's still a chance after all.
