In the end, AMD executive Frank Azor has stated on social networks that the rumor is completely false and that the company never planned a starting price of $899.

Following this statement, a user suggests for AMD to just announce the prices and put an end to all this speculation, to whi Franz Azor replies, "We will".

A Bulgarian retailer recently showcased the PowerColor Red Devil RX 9070 XT in a YouTube video, hinting at AMD's initial pricing plans. According to him, the RX 9070 XT was to be positioned at the same price as the RX 7900 XT, i.e. $899, while the RX 9070 was planned at $749. That said, these prices seem pretty high taking into account the supposed performance of these models.

AMD has delayed the launch of these GPUs several times now, citing software optimization as the official reason. Initially scheduled for late January, the launch is now expected in March. The arrival of NVIDIA's RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5070, priced at $749 and $549 respectively, could very well influence AMD's strategy, as it seeks to align its prices.

Some recent leaks point to the final price being lower. In fact, a Gigabyte RX 9070 XT model has been spotted at $529, but these are far from definitive. AMD still has time to adjust its pricing policy before the official release.
