Samsung presents Project Moohan, an XR headset based on the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2
, by Quentin
Samsung showed a preview of its XR headset, the Project Moohan, at its Galaxy Unpacked event. This model does follow in the footsteps of the Apple Vision Pro, with a design that bears some resemblances, but without the propietary hardware or software.
Rather than going for an Exynos processor, Samsung ahs chosen the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 instead. This SoC, developed in tandem with Google and Qualcomm, is capable of handling 4.3K resolution per screen at 90 Hz, all while supporting 12 simultaneous video streams with a latency of only 12 ms. It's also compatible with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.3, aiming for seamless mixed and augmented reality experiences without any lag.
The headset was only visible at the presentation, with no chance of trying it. In any case, the images show several cameras and great padding for an enhanced comfort.
Samsung has yet to announce a release date for Project Moohan. They will give the device to devs first, and we'll have to wait to know what it will be capable of and when it will be available.
