A few weeks ahead of the Game Developer Conference (or GDC for short), to be held from March 17 to 21, 3,000 developers have taken part in a survey. This is an annual thing to take the pulse of part of the industry, both from AAA and indie studios.
We learn that 11% of those participant have been laid of in the last 12 months, four points more than last year. In addition, 29% say they have had colleagues fired (up 12%). Add to this the fact that 4% have seen their studios close.
Let's change the subject to games, shall we? Still on this panel of 3,000 participants, 80% say they are working on a game to be released on PC. As for PS5, we have a whooping 38%, followed by 34% on Xbox Series, Series, 29% on Android, 28% on iOS, 23% on Mac and 20% on Switch. Only 8% are working on a game for Switch 2.
