NCSoft could have cancelled its Horizon MMORPG
, by Thibaut
Sony is betting big on Horizon. The franchise (already) saw a remaster of its first entry and a LEGO spin-off past year, and there are plenty of other projects in development. Sadly, one of them seems to have been cancelled.
This is the MMORPG that was due on PS5, PC and mobile. Developed by NCSoft, the project has probably winded down because of the South Korean company's financial troubles.
In a statement sent to employees for the beginning of the year, co-CEOs Kim Taek-jin and Park Byung-moo announced that, should their teams fail to turn things around by 2025, the company could disappear. There was a first wave of redundancies last October already.
This could have led to several games in production being cancelled... and the Horizon MMO could be one of them. We'll have to wait for an official announcement to find out for sure. Please note that this title is different from the multiplayer entry still in development at Guerrilla Games.
