The Fortune's Run FPS will remain in early access as the dev has been sent to prison
, by Thibaut
Released in early access on Steam back on September 28, 2023, Fortune's Run is, on the face of it, a really classic retro-looking FPS. It got well received by the community, with very positive reviews on Valve's store so far.
Satisfied by all this, the dev, who goes by Dizzie, was planning to launch version 1.0 in 2026... But this won't end up being the case, as Dizzie has announced that he has been hit by a rather... serious setback.
"I've been sentenced to prison for the next three years. It’s a long story, but I’ve lived a very different life before I was a game developer, and I wasn’t living very well."
"My case is about five years old now. I have been going through the legal process the whole time I’ve been working on this. I have finally been found guilty and sentenced, and I’m going away next month."
"It’s a shame, but it’s the consequences of my actions. I was a very violent person and I hurt a lot of people in my life. Unfortunately, the sentence isn’t going to help with that at all, but I guess we all know that. "
Dizzie's wifie, who was involved in the development process too, left the project following the couple's separation. The dev had to complete the game alone before releasing it in early access. Thanks to the money raised, he expects to end up getting the job done, but only when he gets out of prison... So get ready to wait.
