Over 188 million games were sold in Europe in 2024

Game Sales Data has posted the figures for game sales in Europe past year. A total of 188.1 million PC and console games got sold last year.
This includes digital sales of 131.6 million, up 15% from 2023, and physical sales with for a whooping 56.5 million, pointing to a 22% drop. With those two in mind, we got a 1% increase on last year.
To no one's surprise, it's EA Sports FC 25 that dominated the European sales charts in 2024, though this year's entry sold 5% less than the previous one. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 came second, having sold 9% more than Modern Warfare III did in 2023.
The full ranking reveals that only six new games were in the top 20 games sold in 2024, with Helldivers 2 being the highest at number six. On the hardware side, we got a 21% year-on-year drop: the PS5 leads the way, despite a 20% drop in annual sales. The Switch is also down by 15% and the Xbox Series by 48%.
