After successfully leading the development of Halo Infinite, Joseph Staten is leaving Xbox

Microsoft has just lost a very important person in its staff. Throughout his career, Joseph Staten was one of the key figures behind the success of the Halo franchise. He was responsible, for example, for the direction of the cinematics in the first two installments of the series. He also wrote the script for the third game of Halo: Reach and Halo 3: ODST. After leaving Bungie, Staten remained at Xbox within the publishing division.

Following the very disappointing demo of Halo Infinite released during the summer of 2020, Joseph Staten joined 343 Industries as head of creation. His goal was to steer the ship back on course and launch the game under the best possible conditions.

He ultimately chose to leave this position last March. Although he was initially supposed to return to Xbox Games Studio Publishing, he announced that he is leaving the company altogether. It marks the end of 18 great years at Microsoft.
